Malcolm wandered into the library, completely unsure of how this was gonna work.

Why did this feel like a blind date?

It was almost worse than a blind date because at least if you didn't like a blind date you could end the night early and never see each other again. If they didn't get along, could you even be reassigned? How did these things even work, like who decided he got paired with with this person how good was their judgement? Or was this more of a 'fate' thing but that was just frustrating because it's like trying to argue against circular arguments. 'How does it work' 'fate' that's not a real answer to the question, asshole.

"Like pulling off a bandaid, Malcolm."

He looked around trying to find Brigid.

Where: Cafeteria OR WHEREVER FOOD IS OBTAINED
When: Morning after announcements
Warnings: Probably not!

So, he's already got his assignment, and it's the guy he met at the party. Not bad. Chase only talked to him the one time, but it was friendly enough, and he's a freaking were-leopard, which is cool as hell. Hell, Chase probably won't even have to do much to protect the guy, since the were-factor probably means he's not a total wuss. Makes Chase's job here easier, and gives him the opportunity to continue focusing on himself and his problems.

So, he's at the cafeteria, ready to meet up with Alex for their first "official" meeting as Sentinel and Fatemarked. He's got some eggs and toast, a cup of coffee, and he's browsing through a book he'd picked up from the library as he waits for Alex. It's something about the occult, of course. He figures-- or, well, hopes-- it'll offer some insight into ways he can manage his condition.

Sure, it's a long shot, but he's got nothing but time here.

Perhaps the strongest act of defiance he'd mustered so far, Rumpelstiltskin waited to see if she would come, herself, rather than waiting for him to come to her. He'd tried to re-situate the room enough that he could hobble from each important point without much discomfort. By now, he had run out of much to really do, however, so he was wandering around and tidying things that didn't require it, needing something to do with his hands.

Usually this slowed his thinking to a dull roar, but there was so much more packed in there, especially compared to the usual.

governors

The Governors do this, sometimes; they hold a meet-and-greet for the new arrivals to help them get acclimated, and also to distract them from destroying their rooms. A message goes out to all the new arrivals informing them of a party with free food. Everyone likes free food, right?

In one of the recreation areas - sadly, not one of the ones accessible by slide - there are some chips, dip, some sodas and Solo cups, several large pizzas, and a surprising amount of Oreos.
